Javeenbah Theatre’s fourth production of the year celebrates Gold Coast local creatives in producing brand new, world premiere works!
In its fourth iteration, this annual festival provides an avenue for Gold Coast locals to write and/or direct a brand new play. This year sees some fantastic plays from the dramatic to the hilarious comedies!
One Act Wonders Producer Jake Goodall says, ‘I was involved in the first trial of this production originally named platform festival as an actor and am thrilled to return as this years Producer/convenor.
He continues, ‘This year we have five pieces of work involving seven local directors and writers. I have been lucky enough to manage our group rehearsals and seeing the pieces come to life has been something truly special.’
The festival includes:
Mothers’ Group – Directed by Kaela Gray, Written by Monique Dumaine
A group of women meet, brought together by the only thing they share in common – they’re new Mums. A play with humorous and realistic insight into the joys and heartbreak of what it means to be a Mum.
Hell – Written and Directed by Mikayla Maree Melo
Ever wondered what happens when there’s a mix up in the after life? Join Louise as she navigates some issues that have landed her in the lobby for Hell.
Couch Surfing – Directed by Vicki Lawrence, Written by Gilliam Crow
Living on your couch is never a fun experience, but what happens when you have a secret to share…
The Fountain of Destiny – Written and Directed by Jack Lovett
Join John and Jen on their valiant quest to find the Fountain of Destiny and the adventure they find along the way!
Who’s on First? – Adapted & Directed by Laura Starre
Who’s on First? You? No, Who! Lord knows!
