Monty Python fans, rejoice! Spotlight Theatre’s opening night of Monty Python’s Spamalot was an absolute triumph. From the hilarious antics to the stellar cast and superb direction, the show left us in stitches. Samantha Sherrin’s Lady of The Lake stole the spotlight with her incredible vocals, while Andy Macfarlane’s multiple characters had us in awe. The choreography was bright and entertaining, and the live band added a special touch. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew for a pun-tastic, knightly performance!

Blackrock // Gold Coast Little Theatre

In the 1950s, Australia’s experimental theatre pushed boundaries while the UK and US dominated the mainstream. Blackrock, a powerful play by Nick Enright, challenged cultural attitudes. Gold Coast Little Theatre’s production showcases its relevance in today’s society. With strong performances and direction by Hunter Wall, the show captivates audiences. While some aspects of the concept may be questioned, the focus on aesthetics and acting is commendable. Wall’s talent as a young director shines through, making him one to watch. Girls’ Night Out // Tugun Theatre

From the moment you entered Tugun Theatre, the mood for ‘Girl’s Night Out’ was set! From the fabulous feather boa on the lovely lady greeting people in the foyer, to the pin boards laced with stills from the show along with cast photos and introductions as you walk into the hall.Sitting down you were greeted to a program and some ‘bridesmaid’ headbands to really get into the ‘Hens Night’ party mood.

EXIT // Spotlight Theatre

Exit, a new play by James Hall, is a well-developed drama examining addiction and self-deprecation. The set design is impeccable, and the acting is highly skilled. Overall, a great night out with important themes.

What The Rabbi Saw // Thundering Productions

This crazy, slapstick farce by Billy Van Zandt & Jane Milmore takes us on a non-stop rollercoaster of hilarity filled with physical comedy and witty dialogue. Directed by Jack Lovett, this production is filled to the brim with hard hitting slapstick farce. What The Rabbi Saw is a good night out which kept us laughing for 2 hours.

Jekyll & Hyde // Gold Coast Little Theatre

From the moment the curtains part and the music starts, Gold Coast Little Theatre’s production of Jekyll & Hyde is simply divine. Directed by Stuart Morgan, with Music Direction from Ann Sparks and Choreography from Hayley Green, Gold Coast Little Theatre’s Jekyll & Hyde is a perfect night out at the theatre.

King Lear // Mercury’s Wings

Rain falls in the heart of Southport during this Shakespeare Classic produced by Mercury’s Wings Mercury’s Wings’ production of King Lear is perfectly nuanced against the concrete jungle of The Smith Collective in Southport as this classic is brought to life by professional actors.

Little Shop of Horrors // Spotlight Theatre

Audrey II has arrived at Spotlight Theatre in a kaleidoscope of swirling vibrant colours! This quirky cult classic is sure to delight both seasoned and new fans of Spotlight’s latest show Little Shop Of Horrors. This is Community Theatre as it should be! In one word this show is stupendous, and you will be sorry to have missed out if you don’t get along to see Little Shop of Horrors playing at Spotlight Theatre until 20 August!
